Joyce and I before the Half Marathon on Sunday!

Ave Maria! What a surprise to get a call from All Things Considered this afternoon! Melissa Block was generous enough to include me in today’s show. Check it out here!
The irony is before I was really serious about God’s call to religious life, I thought I would be a professional journalist. I used to spend a great deal of time listening to NPR, reading alternative press, the New York Times…you name it! When I realized God was calling me to serve Him as a religious sister, I stopped pursing a career in professional journalism. So, as you can imagine, it was a tremendous honor to be on NPR!
I am doing well post race and really looking forward to the next distance run. I’m not sure what it will be yet, but stay posted…I’ll let you know once I get news!
Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support! Know of my daily prayers for you…God bless you!
Alicia, what a wonderful interview on WBEZ!
I was talking with a colleague and we both turned to each other and said, “She’s TOTALLY going to raise all the money she needs.”
We love how sweet you sound … and, more importantly, your whole-hearted devotion to your calling. Good luck on your effort! You WILL be getting a donation from us
I also heard about your situation on NPR. I’m getting the word out to my other Catholic friends in hopes we can help out!
Good luck!
What a great interview Alicia on NPR today! Ever since i was a young boy, as long as i can remember, i loved nun’s. The energy they generate is so powerful and loving! You gave that same energy today in your interview. The other day i saw a nun and just had to stop and say hello and give her my warmest regards and that’s the way i feel about yourself and everyone on the nun run team! God bless you all!
Alicia,
I was amazed to hear you on NPR today!I had read about you in the Tribune the other day and was interested in your story. It is obvious that God is really working with you toward your goal. Great story and nice to hear your voice. Thanks for being a soldier in the spiritual army…we’re going to win!
Matt & Veronika (and family 5,4,1 1/2 and one on the way)
I heard your story on NPR the other day and was truly inspired by your passion and devotion. It was a refreshing story to hear. I wish you a wonderful journey. May you continue to inspire.
Alicia….You are doing such a wonderful thing!! I wish you the best. Do you know who Sister Madonna is? She is a Nun who has been involved in over 325 triathlons and is now approximately 77. She finished the World Championship Ironman in Hawaii at age 76. Maybe you are the one who will take her place and continue in her footsteps of spreading the word of God while competing. Anyway you she look her up on line. Also, if you are not aware of what an Ironman is you will be amazed Sister Madonna, but I think you could probably do this too! Good Luck and make it count!

Just wanted to say I will be praying for you. I am also discerning religious life. God Bless you!
