Alicia! I didn’t know you had a blog – I LOVE IT! I was just reading your reflection on the AWAKEN blog – and I saw that you have this one too.

Praise God for your BEAUTIFUL witness! Reading the story of your calling has inspired me to write down the story of my own calling (to marriage). Even if I’m not quite ready to share it yet.

Ms. Alicia Torres, I am thrilled to hear about your committment through the Catholic Star Herald newspaper article, by Joyce Duriga. I have been saving teh article as a reminder to me to donate to you. I will donate, however it is such a small amount, as i have 4 children whom I am helping to pay off their college debt as well. But if everyone just gave a small amount to you we Catholics would all benefit by having such a wonderful woman as a nun. Best of luck and God Speed.

Congratulations on the nun run. Just thought I’d let you know how well known you are….I’m in NZ, I read about the nun run on the Laboure foundation’s website…
But I also just got another link to it left on the facebook page I set up to fundraise for my vocation!

Dear Alicia,

God is working through you even now, before you’ve taken your vows! You are such an inspiration to me and others aspiring for the religious life and paying off college debt. In true Jesuit spirituality, I try to ‘see God in all things’. I even see God in your story. He is behind your movement to remove your debt. Your story is the catalyst to what will become an important issue in modern day vocation journeys. Many potential religious will have college debt, and in my mind, it is unfair to impart that debt upon one’s diocese or religious order. Those who believe there is no way out can now look to you and see that it is by God’s empowering of us to find our way into the religious life. He always gives us what we need. Congratulations and may the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary be with you!
